This technique of coating ‘failed’ pots with various iron oxides has led to the creation of some of my favourite vessels as of late, and this method is exactly what my YouTube video is all about this week. If I have a piece that has a slight glaze defect, say a patch of crawling, which is where the glaze separates from itself, leaving patches of bare clay, or some unwanted discolouration or a boiled section of glass, where the glaze bubbles and pops, becoming very sharp, I’ll coat them in variou
