Redirection doesn’t work for aggressive kids behavior. It changes the task, context & meaning of the behavior. When a kid is aggressive & the adult redirects them, the aggression is never addressed. Escalation gets them out of the situation. Relief functions as a reward. Behavior is shaped in the moment. Redirection adds attention & fuels escalation.
